How Do I Download Youtube Videos With Realplayer
- #2freemake video downloader can download (and rip audio track) from youtube very easily.
- #3Usual warning..
If you install Freemake just make sure you opt-out (uncheck) of the bundled software (i.e toolbars or other rubbish that you wont want or need).
Read the installation screens carefully and always choose 'Custom Installation'
Other than that it works great - #4downloadhelper for firefox is working at the moment.
they are usually pretty good at updating it. - #5Ok cheers everyone - working ok since this post, weird or what?
- #6google were probably playing with their server side algorithms that broke something in your downloader
it happens more often than you'd think as some video sites dont want people leaching from them - #7google were probably playing with their server side algorithms that broke something in your downloader

The button does just vanish some days. Youtube seems to have all sorts of current and past youtubes. Realplayer will download some in one go, some in 2 and some take 3. as assorted elements are downloaded and then put back together.. - #8Maybe vaguely interesting..
I was recently looking for a means to download video's and I found a Chrome extension called 'Video Downloader Professional' which claimed to be able to do the job.
Funny thing was, after downloading and installing, it flashed up a message saying 'This version will not download youtube videos but click here to update to Video Downloader Ultimate for free'.
I clicked to download the revised edition and the Ultimate version seems to be working perfectly.
I'm guessing that, seeing as how Chrome, Google and Youtube are all pissing in the same proverbial pot, it's frowned-upon for companies to offer Chrome extensions which allow people to download YT videos and providing this 'manual upgrade' feature is a way to circumvent that. - #9Maybe vaguely interesting..

It's a violation of the Chrome rules to have an addon that downloads Youtube content. Youtube options was the same, the version from the store wouldn't, but the version from their website did. It's SPOI options now and I haven't had to pay anything, but they allegedly charge. - #10You could try http://keepvid.com/ , nothing to install.
You will get warnings like this which is maybe related to this then yet another but if you run them you end up with a good choice.
I've been using it for a number of years and you didn't have to allow so much but I've never had a problem apart from when it broke down for a day or two some months ago. - #11You could try http://keepvid.com/ , nothing to install.

Apparently it requires installation of Java (*) though? As far as I'm aware, Java exploits via the browser are one of the major vectors for malware infection. (**) I'm sure that's how I got my last infection; I don't have Java on my current machine, and haven't had one since.
(*) Not to be confused with JavaSCRIPT, which is a different language used in browsers. That was originally called Livescript and was rebranded simply to get a slice of the hype Java was getting in the mid-90s Thus sentencing less-knowledgable users to years of pointless confusion.. >:(
(**) Along with Adobe Flash and Adobe Reader exploits (the latter being Adobe's PDF reader; others are available) - #12google were probably playing with their server side algorithms that broke something in your downloader

Oh I see - #13You still can download videos but with the use of software or online services. Software I can recommend is YTD Video Converter and IceCream Media Converter. As for online, ClipConverter is pretty simple to use. But originally YouTube doesn't allow to download any content due to copyright issues.

Freemake is perfectly safe to install provided you read and use caution when installing.
Always choose the 'Custom' install NEVER the 'Recommended/Full'
I've used it for years without problems.
