I have a toshiba satellite A665-S6086 laptop. The wireless adapter will not turn on. I have installed both the media controller driver and the intell wireless centrino adapter driver. Device Manager reports both are up to date. Pushing the 'wireless' icon on the media controller strip instead brings up windows media player.

Pros: I did ALOT of research when debating a quadcore laptop. I ALMOST got the HP quadcore until I saw this jewel.
Pound for pound dollar for dollar you cannot beat it. As with every laptop and even Macbook-if you dont take care of it, it will die. dedicated graphics and i7 is ANYONEs dream!
Cons: Battery life COULD be a little better, but then again if I wanted battery life then I would get a netbook.
Other Thoughts: Very surprising that it plays high end games such as need for speed, COD and BC2 with no flaws as long as you have the 64 bit version of Windows 7.
I rated it a 5 because simply an i7 with dedicated 1 gig of graphics in a laptop package!
Pros: It's an eggcellent laptop for the price, I got it for my college bound daughter and she LOVES IT. I am jealous enough to get one for myself, some day when she gets out of college and before my son goes to college, maybe. LOL
Cons: None so far.

Cons: The only con I encountered was with the 'smart' buttons above the keyboard. They are meant to provide one touch access to enable and disable certain functions, one of which is the wireless NIC. I accidentally pressed it, but my OS (windows 7) didn't show the NIC as 'disabled', but rather indicated that no wireless networks were available. Since the 'smart' button doesn't turn off (it's backlit) when it's respective function is disabled, I had no idea I had pressed it. Only once I had spent half an hour trying to figure out what was wrong with my wireless router did it occur to me to try to touch the 'smart' button, which fixed my problem.
Other Thoughts: The 'smart' button issue is a minor one, and the sort of thing that you won't forget once you learn it the first time. That being the case, I no longer consider it a true 'con', rather a design quirk that I wouldn't have chosen to implement in that way had I designed it myself. Therefore, I fully recommend this laptop for any non-gamer looking for a fast, powerful laptop for general home/office productivity.
Pros: Very Fast. Big roomy keyboard for fast typing. Great looks. GREAT sound, really great. 1 click button disables the touchpad to help sloppy typers. The list goes on and on.
Cons: Bought 2. 1 had a failed internal network card, right out of the box. System absolutely will not even regognize it has one.. tried with the Toshiba image thats on it, a fresh Windows 7 install with the lan driver loaded, and even an ImageX image from another A665 that fully functional.. LAN is dead on this one. BOO.
Other Thoughts: Gave 2 eggs despite the RMA PITA I'm about to go through because these laptops are so nice, especially for the sale price I got them on Newegg. Even with a faulty one I'm not *THAT* disappointed so long as the replacement goes smoothly.
Pros: Superb Core i7 processor, NVIDIA graphics card with 1GB of GDDR3 dedicated memory, weight under 6lb (5.8lb), quiet fan, build quality, overall aesthetic design.
Cons: Download game maker studio master collection full. Oversized and heavy power adapter, batter life (although it’s expected).

Other Thoughts: This is a very capable machine. I got this computer after an exhaustive online research. It’s a great compromise between high end gaming machines that you’d have to pay extra $1000 and computers with underpowered graphics cards. I did a lot of comparisons between NVIDIA vs. ATI graphics cards and the conclusion was that Core i7 processor irons out any disadvantages that NVIDIA (allegedly) have when compared to ATI.
Games like Gears of War, CrysisWARHEAD, Halo 2, F.E.A.R, Fallout.3-RELOADED, Grand Theft Auto IV, FarCry 2 ran without any lag on 1920x1080 resolution and medium high settings with the notebook connected to 42” HD television via RGB cable. Very impressive. While some gaming aficionados might put on their snobby hats, to me this was a gaming heaven. I'm heading to a store to buy more games.
Pros: Purchased for my son. He is a huge fan of gaming. He loves his new toy!
